The range of engines from the LS platform is wide. The LS engine debuted in the 1997 C5 Corvette and was added to the F-body line the following year. In 1999 teh new Silverado ushered in the truck versions of the LS engine family. Truck crate engines have included 4.8L and 5.3L versions, as well as 6.0L and all-aluminum 6.2L premium engines. Car-based LS engines have included displacements of 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L and 7.0L – including a 5.3L (LS4) that was configured for front-wheel-drive applications.
