EZ Sipe Tire Siping Service

When it comes to race tires, it’s all about maximizing traction. Many dirt racers either grind or sipe (or both) their tires for extra grip. Either is an intense, time-consuming process. Instead of doing the work yourself, let Karl Kustoms handle it. Then all you have to do is mount the tires and go!

Siping is a technique first patented in the 1920s by a man named John Sipe, who came up with the idea of putting razor cuts in his shoes to provide better traction. A sipe is simply a razor-thin cut or slit in the rubber tread block. When applying this technique to a dirt tire, siping helps build heat quicker, helping the tire “fire” better. It also dissipates heat when the tire reaches operating temperature and the sipes open. If you use a fairly hard tire, siping will help create a graining effect which will help keep the tire from sealing over.

Karl Kustoms uses the EZ Sipe from 5 Point Fabrication to complete the siping process in minutes. When the process is done by hand, it can take over an hour. You can learn more about our passion for the racing community in this article. Order our siping service today and let Karl Kustoms do the work for you!

Note: This is an add-on service that must be purchased in addition to each tire purchase.
