Summer Nights Favorite: 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

The latest 2025 Sounds of Summer Nights was packed with impressive machinery, but one car stood out from the crowd, and it was Craig Steinkamp’s one-off 1967 Ford Mustang. Hailing from Saylorville, Iowa, Craig just couldn’t stop once he started on this 1967 Mustang and he turned it into an award-winning machine!

This ride has won a lot of trophies, including the Mighty Mustang trophy at the 2023 Good Guys event, and took overall honors out of 5,500 cars at the 2024 Street Rod Nationals.

Build Highlights

The car has undergone an extensive rebuild from the ground up. Some of the highlights include a custom tube frame, independent front and rear suspension, Willwood brakes, and a bored and stroked 427 cubic inch motor that started out life as a 351 Boss block. Other features include:

  • Custom Tube Frame Chassis
  • 427 Cubic Inch Boss V8
  • Independent suspension all-round
  • Bespoke Karl Kustoms Interior

Stepping inside this ’67 Mustang is no less impressive. Brett from Karl Kustoms did the car’s interior. Craig chose the standard Ford bucket seats with rivets down the backrests to retain that original look and feel. The end result is absolutely stunning.
