Summer Nights Feature: Twin Triumphs
One of the best things about being part of the classic car world is the friendships you make along the way. Tom O’Donnell and Dennis Costello, both from Ankeny, Iowa are perfect examples of this.
We spotted them at a recent Karl Kustoms Summer Nights event, where they were deep in conversation standing next to two very similar looking cars.
It turns out that they met at another Karl Kustoms event many years back, and when they got talking, they realized they both had the same type of car, a Triumph TR6.
Tom bought his 1971 TR6 brand new while he was in the navy, while Dennis has a 1973 TR6 finished in a very similar color. Dennis has had his car apart several times, painted it and also fitted a Ford V8 and drivetrain to it – something he refers to as a ‘mild restomod.’
They are members of the Iowa British Car Club, which is a great way to stay in touch with like-minded car fans who understand what it takes to maintain these old classics.

“Taking care of a 50-year-old car takes a lot of understanding, and people like Dennis and other club members have helped me over the years.”Tom O’Donnell
When it comes to tackling larger jobs, or custom modifications, Karl Kustoms has the tools, skills, and passionate people to produce world class results.
