See What’s Happening At Karl Kustoms’ 2021 Summer Nights

In case you haven’t heard, our famous Summer Nights events are in full swing for the 2021 season. Unlike last year’s Virtual Summer Nights, this year’s Summer Nights are in person at Karl Kustoms. If you missed the first two Summer Nights events of the season, here’s a recap of each one:

April 2021 Summer Nights

Our first Summer Nights event of 2021 was a smashing success. We were very excited to finally see our friends again after a full season of virtual Summer Nights in 2020. This event took place on April 14, 2021 at Karl Kustoms in Des Moines.

At this event, Carl Moyer and his longtime friend Dennis Albough made a big announcement: the Albaugh Classic Car Show is back! This popular event, which is hosted by Carl and Dennis, will take place on July 17, 2021 at The District’s Town Square Park in Ankeny. Attendees will enjoy:

  • Live music
  • Fun activities for kids
  • Category awards
  • Dennis’s and Carl’s impressive collections of original and custom Chevrolet vehicles dating back to the early 1900s
  • Other high end cars

Be there or be square!

As the attendees of the first Summer Nights event of 2021 rejoiced over the news, they got to check some awesome hot rods on display. Some of the most notable ones include:

  • A classic Shelby GT350 Mustang
  • A classic Camaro SS
  • A 1957 Chevy 5100

May 2021 Summer Nights

This Summer Nights event, which took place on May 12, 2021, had an incredible turnout. It’s no wonder, because the cars displayed here were nothing short of spectacular. The pristine restored and custom built cars had us (and clearly our guests) riveted the whole time. This event had a wide variety of cars, including:

  • A restored red Chevy Bel Air
  • A variety of Corvettes
  • Rat rods
  • A woodie wagon
  • Custom hot rods
  • An old school Trans Am with the golden eagle on the hood
  • A lifted Chevy pick up truck

Sounds Of Summer Nights – 1935 Ford Pick Up

One of the most notable cars brought to the May 2021 Summer Nights event was this 1935 Ford pick up truck:

The owner of this truck, Neil Guess, brought this rare masterpiece to our shop to have some work done on it. Everyone loved checking it out.

Neil’s father-in-law paid $8,500 for this truck in the late 80s or early 90s. He eventually gifted it to his daughter, Neil’s wife. The most amazing fact about this truck is the fact that it’s all original. Neil’s father-in-law fully restored it about 30 years ago, right when he acquired it.

We were incredibly impressed by this truck. It’s in pristine shape. It looks just as good as it did when it rolled off the assembly line 86 years ago!
