The Chevelle in this video was transformed from a rolling shell into a show car. It may look like a 1970 Chevelle on the outside, but underneath, it’s like a brand-new Chevy. We’re especially proud of the custom, one-of-a-kind interior, and modern electronic upgrades.
A Short History Of The Chevrolet Chevelle
The Chevrolet Chevelle originated in 1964 as a mid-sized automobile, slotting between the smaller Nova and the full-sized Impala. It was one of Chevrolet’s most successful nameplates, with the 1968 through 1972 models being the most popular. Body styles included coupes, convertibles, sedans, and station wagons, all of which could be ordered with a wide range of engine choices and options. The most collectible Chevelles are the ones with the SS badge. The SS stood for Super Sport, Chevy’s high-performance trim level with the hottest engines.
Eventually, the Malibu nameplate became the top trim level, and the Chevelle name was dropped after 1977. Even so, the Chevelle remains a popular car, attracting people of all ages.
This 1970 Chevelle Needed Everything
When this 1970 Chevelle was dropped off at our shop, it needed everything. It was a roller, meaning it had no motor. It also didn’t have glass or an interior and was missing most of its wiring. We built it from the ground up, starting with a modern Schwartz Performance chassis. Next, we installed a new GM Performance LS1 motor backed by a 4L60 automatic transmission.
We gave the Chevelle a full custom interior with new seats and a custom dashboard. It’s also loaded with modern electronics, including keyless entry and remote start. Everything about the car is unique, showcasing everything our shop can do.
