December Update: New And Classic Builds Plus A New LS3 Motor
Holiday lights, a new GM engine, a Jeep accessory build, and classic builds made December 2020 a memorable month at Karl Kustoms!
We all can agree that 2020 was a very weird year. At Karl Kustoms, we still got to end the year with a bang. December was a great month for us.
We had a bunch of amazing projects come through our shop. We also got to enjoy Carl Moyer’s show-stopping holiday decorations!
Carl Holiday Light Drive-Thru
Carl Moyer, the owner of Karl Kustoms, is an avid collector of classic Chevys. He also loves to go all out every year during the holiday season. What happens when you combine both of Carl’s favorite things? You’ve got his show-stopping holiday light drive-through event!
Carl decked out his sprawling property in holiday lights and elaborate decorations. He even showcased his massive collection of immaculate and stunning classic Chevys. There was a huge Christmas tree surrounded by larger-than-life Christmas ornaments.
Carl graciously invited us and other locals over to his property. We were so excited to check out the incredible lights and decorations. One December night, a single line of cars that stretched back as far as one could see paraded through Carl’s property. Many pictures were taken, as the decorations enamored every last visitor. Even Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus made an appearance! They sat in the bed of a gorgeous blue classic Chevy truck. They accepted well wishes and gladly posed for photos with children and adults alike. To say that this was a magical night would be an understatement.
GM Engine Spotlight: LS3 Long-Block Assembly
In December, we were thrilled to add a new engine to our inventory: an LS3 long-block assembly engine! It’s a stripped down version of the 6.2L LS3 engine. It’s somewhat of a blank canvas, because you can install whatever you like on this application. We carry all the parts you need to build upon this engine. For example, we carry intake manifolds, fuel injection systems, and so on. If you’re anywhere near the Des Moines area, feel free to have us build this engine for you!
2021 Jeep Wrangler Accessory Build
When a customer brought this Jeep Wrangler into our shop, we were excited for two reasons:
- We got to check out the all new 2021 Jeep Wrangler!
- We got to load it up with amazing new accessories!
The accessories this Jeep got included:
- New chrome wheels
- A steel bumper with a winch and a built-in light bar
- A Teraflex 4.5″ long-arm lift kit
- Rough Country rear trail bumper
- Mud grappler tires
- Premium shocks
- Two drop steps
Corvette Z06 Lingenfelter Kit
We brought this Z06 Corvette to the next level by installing a Lingenfelter 720 HP kit. The new engine kit has great performance features, including:
- ATI damper
- LT4 supercharger pulley (15% overdrive)
- Supercharger belt
- 100mm idler kit
1947 International Pick-Up
Talk about a blast from the past! A customer brought this one-of-a-kind 1947 International pick up truck into our shop. They wanted to give this beaut a tune-up and new tires. We did just that… after fawning over the truck, of course.
1967 Camaro Engine Build
Every last one of us at the shop loves a well restored classic Camaro. So when this 1967 Camaro rolled into the shop, we jumped all over the opportunity to work on it. When we were done with this car, it was ready to hit the road with a brand new custom engine!
