Take A Look At This 1969 Mustang Boss 429

Anyone who knows us knows that we’re die-hard Chevrolet fans. Yet, we appreciate all cars, especially beautifully maintained and restored classic cars. Karl Kustoms owner Carl Moyer travels around the area to check out amazing Chevys and other cars. At our last Summer Nights event, we ran into Monty Warmuth, one of our customers and a proud owner of a rare 1969 Mustang Boss 429. This exquisite Mustang captured our attention so much that we made a video about it:

A Little Bit About The Mustang Boss 429

Monty has owned this Mustang Boss 429 for 52 years. He was 21 years old when he traded in his 1965 Chevy convertible for it.

“I wanted something different that nobody else had,” he said. “Everybody else had a Corvette or a Road Runner or a [standard] Mustang.”

Little did he know that his Mustang Boss 429 would end up being an ultra rare car. Today, it’s one of the most sought-after classic cars in the world. This model existed for only two years: 1969 and 1970. Only 860 units of the 1969 model were produced, and 499 units were produced in 1970. Out of the 1,359 Mustang Boss 429 cars that have ever existed, how many are still prowling the roads? Not so many, we assume.

It’s so rare that a well-maintained one like Monty’s is worth about $200,000. It’s clear why Monty is so proud of his ’69 Mustang Boss 429.

The Work That Was Done To This One-Of-A-Kind Mustang

Many of Monty’s friends have told him that they wish they had held onto the cars they’d owned in the 60s and 70s. Monty’s quite proud of the fact that he has held onto his Mustang Boss 429 for 51 years and counting. To say that he took very good care of his car would be an understatement. He kept it in pristine condition all those years.

The car did get some work, though, as a result of age and wear and tear:

  • Repainted car body
  • 2 or 3 new engines throughout its lifetime

All the parts under the hood are original, except the engine. One of our crate engines is powering this Mustang Boss 429. Monty couldn’t have made a better choice than the Chevrolet Performance LS376/525 crate engine. It produces 525 hp and 486 lb.-ft. of torque. He had us install it into his Mustang at Karl Kustoms.
